La Dune du Pilat, Bassin D'Arcachon, France Hello parents ! What's new into the French class during the month of October ? Our adorable First graders keep going on their journey through learning French, I can see several of them reusing sentences I use to create their own ! Sometimes my assistant and I are looking at each other like "wait what, did you ear what she/he said ? That's awesome !!!" The students are still gaining autonomy, which is my ultimate goal, giving them as much independence into the class and going at their own path. They take care of our material, tidy everything with a lot of care which is so nice to see them so involved. Rituals I am increasing the level of our morning rituals, and changing the format everyday, to increase the kids ability to adapt and think of what is said instead of being into a repetition circle. I have little phones into the class, we are pretending we are on the phone and go through a lot of vocabulary. The students know well how to decompose a number (with ones and tens), know we are working on equations during the rituals : find an equation which can make 18... We are also working on addition and subtraction (38+20 / 38-20.....) I am going to increase the difficulty this as well in a month. Sometimes we are doing challenges/games like "touch something red", or "find the kid who has red hair, white short.... etc. Mathematics We are now working on topic 5 which goes deeper into addition and subtraction concepts. Thank you so much for your involvement with the homework, I can see how hard you are working with the kid at home and I really want to express my gratitude with this. Mathematics is the only topic I grade. You can find all the standards and topics we will work on into the math section of this website. I create my own assessment and make sure it matches with the type of work we are doing in class. Student have 3 chances to succeed and increase their grades. French Spelling I encourage you to go through the Taoki book online, because it is very interactive and fun, it is a good review at home and a great occasion for you to hear your kid reading in French :). You can find the tutorial on this website and you just got to message me to have your code. As usually, don't hesitate if you have any question, I am here for you and the kids. And as usually, please excuse my English Spelling. Mrs Botella |
