WHAT IS "TAOKI" ?
DESCRIPTION
"Taoki" is the name of a little green Dragon who lives a lot of adventures with his two friends, Lili and Hugo !
We will follow him into his daily life (in the forest, at the doctor, at the library, at home, etc...).
Always full of humour, this method, modern by its composition allows to combine the learning of the French reading code to a lot of real expression, speaking-writing situations, text understanding.
The French reading/writing code will be teach with a general syllabic approach, some "basic" key words (connectors for example) will be learn globally.

HOW WILL I USE TAOKI IN THE CLASSROOM ?
Note : this is a brief resume/sample of all the activities we are doing with this method, please note that the difficulty of the following exercises I describe will increase during the school year, everything is adapted at the moment of the year and the understanding capacity of the students.
On Mondays :
- We discover a new image poster (like the one on the very top of this page)
- We describe it (who is on the picture ? What are they doing ? Where are they....)
- We repeat, point the object of the picture which are our key words
- We discover the sound of the week (each poster is related to a sound, that we can find in most of object, the key words)
- We play different oral games that allow to discriminate this sound in different words
- Taoki exercise book
On Tuesdays
- Review of the sound of the week, key words, poster image ...
- Sentences creation (simple at the beginning of the school year, complex at the end...)
- Reading letter of the week, letter of the previous week, letters combined together...
- Writing games where we ll have to recognise the letter of the week in words
- Taoki exercise book
On Wednesdays
- Review of the sound of the week, key words, poster image ...
- Focus on combination work (the letter of the week with the one of the previous one... etc)
- Collective sentences creation based on the previous days work : we write these sentences together on a big paper, these sentences will end up being the "text of the week", very short at the beginning of the school year, more complex and long at the end.
- Writing exercise (the letter/words/sentences of the week)
On Thursdays
-Review of the sound of the week, key words, poster image, sentences we created
- Individual / collective reading
- Comprehension oral questions
- Comprehension writing questions on exercise book
On Fridays
- Review of all the week exercise
- Syllabic / words / sentences dictation
- Individual sentences creation

MATERIAL
We will use two books :
- The yellow one, which is the reading book
Every week, I will post on this page the letter we are learning, and the corresponding image poster
- The blue one which is the exercise book I mentioned earlier.
